Thanksgiving in Canada is celebrated on the second Monday in October and originates from the tradition of giving thanks for a successful harvest season. Historically important in agricultural communities, it has evolved into a celebration where families gather to express gratitude and strengthen community bonds. It is seen as a time to give thanks not only for the harvest but for all the blessings of life. One of the core values of Canadian society, sharing, solidarity, and community, forms the cultural foundation of this holiday. Families come together to spend time with loved ones and reflect on what they are thankful for.
At FH, we celebrated Thanksgiving by sharing with our students the history of this important holiday and its roots in Canadian culture. We also discussed the cultural values of the day and expressed our gratitude together. This event emphasized the importance of being part of a community, learning about cultural heritage, and sharing. Through this experience, our students not only learned about the Canadian celebration but also had the opportunity to practice social solidarity and express thanks.
At FH, we are deeply thankful for the vibrant and diverse community we have built. We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our students, the support of our staff, and the families who trust us with their children’s education. This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for the opportunity to nurture a positive learning environment where everyone can thrive and grow. We look forward to continuing to learn together and make meaningful connections within our school community. Thank you!
